SANKALPA

SANKALPA is a non-profit registered voluntary organization based out in the Davangere district of Karnataka. Since 2007. SANKALPA has been working towards fostering inclusive educational opportunities for children with Intellectual Disability (ID). Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Multiple Disability. It has also been contributing to their Early Intervention and Early Education rehabilitation & development.

Disability Orientations Training for Women`s Groups

Sankalpa organization organized two days disability orientation training program for Self Help Group leaders in this training we have build the capacity to members Type of Disability, How to early identification, role of parents and responsibilities, Right to person with Disability Act -2016. And Govt entitlements.

Parents engaged in empowerment under Aadhar Program

SANKALPA have conducted parent’s empowerment sessions from consultation by Dr, Karibasappa has given input about how to develop or improve in children Oro motor and fine Motor skills and create plate form for Socio- emotional Domain in children. Parents got knowledge about how to engage their children in above topic practiced by teacher in between time by using home based TLM. And our team also regularly visited to Children home and fallow up purpose, at the time was given inputs & this month we empowered of 25 Parents.

Doctors Workshop

SANKALPA Organization Conducted one day First Year MBBS Students (Doctors) Training for one day in SS Hi-tech Hospital, Davangere in this training more than 65 Doctors are participated and get knowledge about types of disability, how to identification Disability in early stage, Types of rehabilitation, Right to Person with Disability Act-2018 and Disability Govt schemes.

Intellectual Disability (MR) Parents Training

Sankalpa organization and Composite regional Center (CRC) Davangere collaboratively organized One Day Intellectual Disability (MR) Parents training. We trained 72 Intellectual Disability (MR) children Parents training to get knowledge about how to handled children different issues, how to used ADL Kits, how to egging MR children behavior and Govt schemes and types of rehabilitation.

The journey of education for SANKALPA continued through 2019-20, the journey from a protected institutional environment to an open society where education for a child with disability is still not viewed as a very important aspect of life. For SANKALPA it was year of action and yet another year of learning regarding inclusion of children with disabilities in to mainstream schools. We recognized that there was a gap between our wish to impart quality education to children and the skills and competence level. Bridging the gap to successful inclusion this year the increased numbers in children attending regular schools has shown that we have been successful in the first step of inclusion. But the truth is still that schools are not yet ready to accommodate children with severe disability. This motivated us to think in a new direction - A community based model learning center.

SANKAPA organisation, NIIT-Delhi, SEEDS NGOs Network Kadri (Aandra Pradesh) and Education Dept, collaboratively organized in High school and college students on “Disability inclusion and Financial literacy orientations program”. In this program we addressed the all students how to manage financial and how to operated Banking account systems, online transaction and Disability orientations program in this events we covered more than 52 college and high school 10650 students get knowledge about above subjects.

ORGANIZATION ACTIVITIES

Training program for Parents of Children having Cerebral Palsy & Intellectual Disability 

Conducted training program for Parent’s of Person with Cerebral Palsy and Intellectual Disability. In this training program parents and Children with Disability were participated. The aim of the program was to train parents those who are having children with Cerebral Palsy or Intellectual Disability. They are encouraged to form the parent’s federation and work with Government Department to access constitutional rights of the Persons with Disability. In this program, we explained the details of existing govt schemes are for welfare of sever disability.

School Children awareness program for Disability: 

Conducted awareness program for School Children In this program we have given input for Government Schemes. Awareness about the National Trust Act Niramya Health Card, Therapy support children, Mobility aids and appliances were imparted. And how to support their peers having disability and how to involve them in all school activities were briefed. In this program School children and children with disability are participated.

Awareness Programme for Doctors & Nursing Students: 

Conducted one day sensitization programme for nursing student’s local Hospital at Davangere. The objective of this programme was to encourage, sensitize and release the role nurses towards disability and oriented them on how to identify the intellectual disability, autism, cerebral palsy, and multiple disabilities. Nurse behavior should be disable friendly when disable people came to hospital moreover person with in the program nursing students were participated. 

Also we explained there is need of NGO, government institution, hospital and others like mended stakeholders need be work together to meet individuals of persons with intellectual disability. Cancers towards rights of intellectual disability and existing welfare scheme for disability are providing by government.

Sensitization program for different stakeholders:

Collaboration with District administration Davangere and SANKALPA organization conducted one day training program for Panchayats Development officers of Davangere district Taluk panchayat training center in this program PDOs were participated. Objective of the program was engagement with Government departments at the District of the Urban Development Department, and RDPR to optimize fund Utilization under 5% Annual budget allocation for and ensure equal rights for person with intellectual disability when allocation fund during the action plan under 5%.

We worked with govt Dept and sensitize them regarding on type of disability and their individual needs and govt has to provide service based on needs of person with disability to meet individuals needs of disability.

Celebrate World Disabled Day: 

Organisation collaboratively celebrating on World disabled day and World Deaf day at Davangere different types of disable and their parents were participated. In this occasion & get sensitized about Disability rights, entitlements & provisions

Educational Skill Development, counseling and importance of health and safety awareness program: 

SANKALAP & NIIT collaboratively conducted educational skill development and counseling awareness program for high school children of Davangere district. Children are got knowledge about the educational opportunities after completion of 10th Class. The options for those who have passed 10th class and those who had failed 10th Class. In this program many students got aware about the Government Schemes and Opportunities about self-employments and other livelihood choices.

School children (Disabled & Non-Disabled Children) on importance of health and safety in their premises. In this program the benefits of yoga, how to manage frequently occurring disease like common cold was given to all the school children. Motivation given to the school to ensure regular yoga class in their curriculum. School children are get knowledge about Health and Yoga benefits.
